The Dreams Journal is a monthly literary and critical publication featuring creative writing on the broader topic of dreams and their connection to all aspects of humanity and life.
We all dream. It’s not only a unique and fantastic function of the human body, but also an ability to imagine something beyond our direct experience—good and bad, desirable and fearful. As a curious species, wonder is innate for us. So much so that our bodies continue to explore, imagine, and create even while at rest. In those moments of repose—whether literally sleeping, daydreaming, or simply lost in thought—we dredge up the ideas and desires that become aspirations, fantasies, things to strive for. Sometimes, they can even become reality. We seek to expose, investigate, and inspire those thoughts.
The Dreams Journal was founded to illuminate ways in which dreams inspire, enhance, strike, or otherwise influence our lives, creatively or in reality, and to provide a platform for emerging artists. All levels and style of writing are welcome—see our Submit page for guidelines on contributing.
The Dreams Journal Team
Mickie Meinhardt — Editor In Chief
Kat Simpson — Art Direction & Illustration
Alexandra Zatarain — Publisher
The Dreams Journal is funded and produced by Eight, and was borne from creative explorations and conversations between Eight CMO Alexandra Zatarain and writer and current TDJ Editor-In-Chief Mickie Meinhardt. Dreams and dreaming were such a font of intrigue for the two, and in discussing how to better utilize and explore those realms, they came up with the concept of a Dreams Journal: Recording and hosting reflections from others around the world with the same level of intrigue and want to explore the depths of their own thoughts. The Dreams Journal does not promote Eight or its products. It is a separate creative pursuit.
